Moong Dal Halwa

A rich and festive North Indian dessert made with moong dal, ghee, and sugar — slow-roasted to perfection for a melt-in-the-mouth texture.

Ingredients :

1. ½ cup yellow moong dal (soaked for 3–4 hours and ground to a coarse paste)
2. ¼ cup ghee
3. ½ cup milk
4. ¼ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
5. ¼ tsp cardamom powder
6. 1 tbsp chopped almonds and cashews
7. 4–5 saffron strands (optional)

Procedure :

1. Switch on Sauté mode in the MultiCook. Add ghee.
2. Add the moong dal paste and stir continuously. Roast for 12–15 minutes until it turns golden and aromatic.
3. Add milk and mix well. Cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring regularly.
4. Add sugar and continue cooking till the mixture thickens and ghee starts to release.
5. Add cardamom powder, saffron (if using), and chopped nuts. Mix well.
6. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the halwa is glossy and leaves the sides.
7. Cancel Sauté mode.
8. Serve warm, garnished with extra nuts if desired.
