Rice Semiya Upma
Rice Semiya Upma is a savoury, spiced dish made with rice vermicelli, vegetables, and tempered spices.
Ingredients :
1. Rice vermicelli 1 cup
2. Oil 1 tbsp
3. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
4. Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
5. Urad dal (split black gram) 1 tsp
6. Chana dal (split chickpeas) 1 tsp
7. Green chillies 1 pcs (slit)
8. Ginger 1 pcs (chopped)
9. Onion 1 tsp (chopped)
10. Curry leaves 10 Leaves
11. Carrot 1 small (grated)
12. Peas 1/4 cup
13. Salt To Taste
14. Water 2 cup
15. Lemon juice 1 tbsp
16. Fresh coriander leaves Few Sprigs
Procedure :
1. Heat oil in a Casserole. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Fry until the dals turn golden brown.
2. Add the chopped onion and cook until it turns translucent. Add the grated carrot and peas (if using). Sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add 2 cups of water and salt. Bring it to a boil.
3. Add the rice vermicelli to the boiling water and stir gently. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 4-5 minutes until the water is absorbed and the semiya is cooked.
4. Add lemon juice and mix well. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
